Dr. Lynne S. Gots is a licensed psychologist who uses cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help change the thought patterns and behaviors that cause distress and stand in the way of living the most meaningful, fulfilling life possible. Each individual brings special concerns, along with personal goals, to therapy. Dr. Gots starts with a comprehensive evaluation to assess your needs and works with you to develop a collaborative treatment plan that is custom-tailored yet based on proven strategies from the most current research. This type of therapy is focused more on the present than the past and on developing coping skills to help you deal with problems that are troubling you now. As CBT was designed as a relatively short-term treatment, you may see results in as few as eight to ten sessions.

CBT and Behavior Therapy have been shown in thousands of studies to be effective treatments for anxiety, depression, and many other psychological disorders. A specific type of CBT, know as Exposure/Response-Prevention, is the treatment of choice for OCD. Exposure-based therapies are useful for many anxiety disorders.

In addition to traditional cognitive-behavioral and behavior therapies, Dr. Gots uses mindfulness and acceptance techniques to help you tolerate distress without letting it get in the way of the life you want to lead.
